A Challenging Case of Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection
نویسنده
چکیده
Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a rarely reported cause of myocardial infarction (MI), arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death (SCD). It predominantly affects young women. The pathological mechanism has not been fully clarified yet. Most of such cases have been attributed to fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD). However, several other diseases and conditions have been associated with SCAD, such as atherosclerosis, other connective tissue disorders and the peripartum state. In this paper we present a case of a 35 year old male presenting with ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) due to coronary artery dissection and how we managed the case. We will also review the literature, discussing the possible mechanisms for SCAD, therapeutic options and prognosis.

Rapid Spontaneous Coronary Artery Reperfusion Following Severe Bradycardia During Exercise Tolerance Test: A Rare Case Report
The acute occlusion of a coronary artery without the evidence of myocardial infarction might immediately affect both the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease. We present the case with a sudden occlusion of the left main coronary artery without typical chest pain following an exercise tolerance test and rapid spontaneous reperfusion of the left main coronary artery.
متن کاملA Case Report on Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection Case Report
Spontaneous coronary artery dissection is an extremely rare cause of acute coronary syndrome. Although it predominantly affects young women in the peripartum period, it can also occur in men. The left coronary artery is most frequently involved. The usual presentation is ST segment elevation myocardial infarction. Although several treatment modalities have been proposed, the optimal treatment o...
متن کاملAn unusual case presentation of spontaneous coronary artery dissection
Spontaneous coronary artery dissection is a rare cause of acute myocardial infarction in the young which can be life threatening. The clinical presentation is wide, ranging from simple chest pain to sudden death. Asymptomatic spontaneous coronary dissection is extremely rare. We present a case of asymptomatic spontaneous coronary artery dissection which was managed conservatively; we also revie...
متن کاملPostpartum multivessel spontaneous coronary artery dissection confirmed by coronary CT angiography.
Spontaneous coronary artery dissection is a rare but potentially life-threatening event associated with the peripartum period. We present a case of postpartum multivessel spontaneous coronary artery dissection diagnosed by conventional angiography and monitored with computed tomographic coronary angiography. The patient was initially managed medically and later received a coronary stent.
متن کاملSpontaneous coronary artery dissection: a rare diagnosis in a postmenopausal woman
We report a case of a 50-year-old ex-smoker, postmenopausal woman presenting with an acute myocardial infarction caused by a spontaneous coronary artery dissection of a long 'wrap-around' left anterior descending coronary artery. After the diagnostic coronary angiography, she was treated medically with subsequent improvement.
